Joss Construction Wins the Trifecta

The team at Joss Construction won 3 awards at the recent 2023 Riverina Murray Regions Excellence in Building Awards:

  • Joss Construction – 2023 Commercial Builder of the Year.
  • Wagga Wagga Multi-Sport Cycling Complex – Energy Efficiency and Environmental Sustainability Award.
  • Xavier High School Gymnasium Redevelopment – Commercial – Projects $4M – $8M Award.

Wagga Wagga Multi-Sport Cycling Complex

The Wagga Wagga Multi-Sport Cycling Complex site encompasses 22 hectares within the Pomingalarna Reserve in Wagga Wagga to combine seven Cycling disciplines including Velodrome, Criterium Track, BMX Track, MTB Trails, Children’s Learn to Ride, Jump Track, Pump Track, Active Travel Path with centralized Carparking, Community Building, Kiosk and BBQ facilities, which can be shared by all Community Users.

The project was a full Design & Construction for Joss Construction who designed the project to meet City of Wagga Wagga’s brief through close consultation with the local Cycling Stakeholders, First Nations Wiradjuri Women’s Group and our Design Consultants which included Cultural, Bush Fire, Civil, Electrical, Sports Lighting, Structural, Mechanical, Architectural Specialist Mountain Bike Designers, Environmental, Acoustic, Access & Landscaping disciplines. The project is now enjoyed by hundreds of Cycling enthusiasts on a weekly basis.

Xavier High School Gymnasium Redevelopment

Xavier High School Gymnasium Redevelopment comprised of work to 3 separate buildings

The Xavier High School Redevelopment consisted of work to 3 separate buildings, the major component being a new multi-purpose Gymnasium suitable for sporting events and school productions.

The project included retractable basketball backboards, cushioned sports floor, scoreboards and shot clocks, linemarking for basketball, volleyball, badminton, and netball courts. Sport curtains were installed at mid court and underneath the mezzanine floor and retractable seating provided to both ground level and mezzanine level.

For school assemblies and productions, a large raised stage area was provided with curtains, stage lighting, sound system, audio loop and AV facilities.

Also within the Gymnasium Building were a Canteen with cooking facilities, Theory Rooms, Storerooms, Changerooms, WC’s, and a lift.

External works included a new fire access road, stormwater drainage, coloured external concrete paving and synthetic grass

Other works included in the contract include two separate areas of refurbishment. Block B – Existing Classrooms and Block J – the Music Centre.
