Country Fire Authority (CFA) Victorian Emergency Management Centres
Spread across 5 sites throughout regional Victoria, the project comprised decommissioning and demolition of existing infrastructure and construction of new Practical Area Pads (PAD) to provide safe training areas to simulate real life operational situations. The works incorporated electrical upgrades, including new main switchboards, distribution boards and lighting, as well as the installation of new water mains and hydrants along with pumping systems to provide training water and assist in the management of stormwater.
One of the project’s challenges was the excavation and disposal of earth at each site, which was considered PFAS contaminated. Joss engaged an independent Environmental Consultant and implemented strict environmental controls to manage stormwater, soil and dust across each site to ensure there was no risk of transfer of PFAS material.
The new facilities will contribute to the CFA’s critical practical training in support of its regional communities.
