The new Wagga Wagga Multi-Sport Cycling Complex, located on the city’s western outskirts caters for competitive and recreational cyclists and features a criterium track, BMX track, jump tracks and pump tracks, cycling education area, velodrome and supporting infrastructure, including car parking, Community Building, Electrical Kiosk, BBQ facilities and a design for future provision of Indigenous Cultural Garden which is shared by all Community Users.

The client brief was specific in requiring the specialist cycling facilities be State of the Art and to National standards, enabling it to attract major cycling events to Wagga Wagga, while being sensitively merged into the culturally sensitive reserve.

The 22-hectare site is situated within the Pomingalarna Reserve is recognised by the First Nations-Wiradjuri as a sacred Women’s Site. The First Nation Wiradjuri Women’s Group (FNWWG) was an integral member of the Stakeholder Group along with the cycling club and local council. Numerous design meetings and individual meetings with FNWWG were held to ensure all opportunities were carefully considered for the long-term impacts of the works on their country.

The culturally significant location, sensitive consultation with all stakeholders and integration of first-class specialist cycling disciplines over the 22-hectare site, all substantially contributed to Joss being awarded the:
