Joss are pleased to announce the official sod turning ceremony was held at Artie Smith Oval in Bomaderry in February, symbolising the beginning of major works for the redevelopment.
Our team were joined by Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Amanda Findley, local MP Fiona Phillips, Aboriginal Elders who performed a smoking ceremony and welcome to country, and various sporting groups to mark this significant event in history for the Shoalhaven and community.
The $16M Artie Smith Oval redevelopment is spread over a 6.2 hectare site and is situated next to the new Shoalhaven Indoor Sport Centre (SISC) in Bomaderry. This upgrade of the sporting precinct will complete the staged precinct works, providing the local community a modern, attractive venue to host and participate in community and representative sports.
The project involves a complete design and construct redevelopment of existing ovals and the delivery of an AFL standard football oval, four croquet courts, cricket pitches and nets, sports pavilion and administration building, grandstand, croquet sports building and carpark.
With works now underway, the project is anticipated to reach completion in mid-2023.
