Cootamundra High School Science Lab Upgrades

Contract Value: $660K

Duration: 17 Weeks

Completion: April 2019

Block A was built in 1958 and block B 1963. The work entailed full demolition of one lab and prep room in block A, two labs and one prep room in block B including removal of Asbestos contaminated vinyl floor tiles on the first floor.

During demolition gas and service lines were found to be “not to code” so had to be upgraded. This incurred an extension of time and variation.

New work mainly consisted of suspended acoustic tile ceilings, new false service walls behind the new work benches, all new joinery and furniture, three new fume cupboards, upgrade air conditioning from evaporative to reverse cycle, acid resistant non-slip acoustic coved vinyl with carpet tiles to area of students’ desks. Also, interactive TV’s were installed.

This has created a bright, fresh and open new labs and prep rooms for staff/students.
