O’Brien Transport Logistics Facility

Value

$32.5M

Location

Wodonga

Joss Construction delivered a purpose-built logistics facility for O'Brien Transport under a Design and Construct contract, consolidating the company's operations into a single, high-performance asset purpose-built for the demands of a growing regional transport business.

The facility comprises a 20,000m² warehouse accommodating over 18,000 pallet spaces, a 5,000m² super awning structure featuring a 43-metre single-span roof providing expansive column-free covered space for vehicle manoeuvring and loading, 16,000m² of heavy-duty external pavement, and an 800m² administration building with office accommodation, conference facilities and car parking for 83 personnel.

A fibre-reinforced concrete floor slab system was specified throughout the warehouse for its superior durability under continuous heavy equipment traffic, delivering long-term performance and reduced maintenance requirements. A standout feature of the project was the helicopter installation of rooftop smoke spill fans, which reduced installation time from days to hours, eliminated road closures and removed the safety risks of conventional crane operations at height.

Front-end design integration was central to Joss’ delivery approach, with O’Brien’s specific operational requirements resolved collaboratively before construction commenced. This ensured the facility’s built form directly translated the client’s needs into practical outcomes, with no costly modifications required during or after construction.
